Underwater Robotics team scores big

The Atlantis Robotics of Desert Vista High School placed 2nd in the High school division and 4th. overall at the National Underwater Robotics Challenge held at Chandler High School this past weekend.
The students not only had to participate in an underwater challenge, but had competitions in writing a Technical Report on their robot, Oral Presentation on the robot, a meet and greet of people and judges at the pit area talking about their robot, Video of the challenge they created about the mission, Web Site about Atlantis Robotics of Desert Vista High School, and a green charging station for the robot batteries.
“The students worked very hard this year with a much more sophisticated robot and control systems than last years,” said Dan Zaveleta, DV teacher. ” They took a giant step forward in advancing their utilization of technology in this years design.”
The students involved this year are:
Dominic Chen senior/10 – Captain, Pilot and Webmaster
Elaine Rhoades senior/10 – Co pilot and Public Relations
Craig Bishop senior/10 – Electrical and Programming
Mike Hudson senior/10 – Mechanical and Electrical
Dakota Boyd senior/ 10 – Mechanical and Electrical
Nick Selby junior – Mechanical and Video
Kevin Zheng junior – Programming
Matt Giovanucci junior – Electrical
Chelsea Waverley sophomore – Mechanical
