Do you enjoy being surrounded by music and seeing competition? Then the drumline is the place to be. Our drumline has been working very hard and requires that everyone practice individually to keep up the team’s progress. Senior Dillion Jacobs shares how he enjoys being apart of the drum line. “I like the thrill of the performance and the competition,” said Jacobs. Some enjoy the music but this only proves that everyone is different from each other. But surely just believing that you can perform with practice is surely a big mistake. “I take hours a week to practice and perfect my technique,” said Jacobs. They say practice makes perfect and that is exactly what the drum line is attempting to achieve. Just like all teams they all share goals towards success. But motivation is the key for driving this team forward to their goal, “My goals are to motivate everyone on the line, while trying our best to win,” said Jacobs. Motivation is the key to success for our drum line and they are a hard working group that support each other thought their times together. Although being apart of the drum line is not easy as they say unity is the key and that the band plays as one sound so everyone must be on key. “We practice as one sound, and our coaches have sequence that keeps us in perfect unity and creates a established harmonic sound from our line,” said Jacobs. Our practices start around 6:30 and end around 12:00 and we recover and come back for a second practice at night and the goal from these practices is to obtain perfection. The drumline works very hard and maintains constant practices in order for them to achieve their goals.
