DV Swim takes over!

Everyone knows that DV has the best swim team here in Arizona, but no one really thinks of how much work comes into practicing for every meet. “We have practice every morning from 5:15 to 7:15. All the kids are tired, but they’re really coming together as a team,” said assistant coach Sarah Toler.

Dv’s Swim and Dive club has been going on since 1996, and has been growing ever since then. With new members, there comes new records. On top of having to go to every meet, unless excused by the coach, they have to keep up the GPA to stay on the team, and have to juggle all the homework too. Who ever said swim was easy?

With head coach Shawn O’Connell always keeping the team on edge; we are to have a great year! But this wont be the first year that DV has had an amazing year, actually, every year has been great! With last years girl team taking 4th place and the boys team taking 7th at the Arizona High School 5A Championships. DV has always been the best high school in Arizona not only because of its amazing students, but also because of the sportsman ship that we all have here at the Home of the Thunder! And swim is not an exception. On Friday, September 4th, 2009, the team had its first swim meet at West Chandler at 4:00 after school.  If I was working as hard as they did, I wouldn’t be able to stand up. All the exercises they do, and all the practices. It’s so much work! Other schools better watch out, because DV is coming your way!
