Sophomore Anes Sung has won the distinguished honor of being the #1 Violinist in the State of Arizona at this year’s All-State Orchestra’s Concertmaster. In addition to her duties as the DV Orchestras Concertmaster and Concertmaster for the Phoenix Youth Symphony she competed against other top violinists in Arizona.
“I played first chair in the All State Music Performance,” Anes Sung said, “It was kind of overwhelming.”
Anes has been playing the violin for six years and has been in over 30 performances.
“For most violin players,” Sung went on to say, “It takes a lot of time and effort to become good at playing this instrument.” From the many competitions Sung has been in, she has won five of them.
For the first time this year, Anes has been honored with the position of Concertmaster, meaning she plays first chair violin. “I practice whenever I can,” Sung said, “But now that I’m in high school, academics come first. I have to maintain my grades then I can practice.”
And practice does really make perfect in Sung’s case. After six years of playing violin, she is on her way to becoming one of the best players in the state of Arizona.
