In a morning full of laughs, tears, and memories, hundreds of people congregated to Desert Vista to celebrate the life of former dance teacher, Pamela Ann Olsson, on Saturday August 14th.  The wife and mother died in a car accident Tuesday August 10th.
Attending the service in the Dr. Joe McDonald auditorium were family, friends, alumni, parents of alumni, and many Desert Vista and McClintock high school coworkers.
The precession began with a tribute from her former students, as each brought a flower and laid it upon the stage in her memory.  Officiating was former McClintock principal and family friend, Richard Baniszewski.  Prayer, stories, and anecdotes were given by Desert Vista Principal Dr. Anna Battle, Physical Education department head Todd Ford, Pam’s son Eric Olsson, former Desert Vista principal Dr. Joe McDonald, dance teacher Bianca Caryl and others.  Choir instructor Andrew De Valk lead a small chorus of Brother James Air.  A slew of audience members took the opportunity to stand up as they wished and share inspirational stories and life lessons learned from Pam.
The Desert Vista H-building, in which she taught dance for many years, will be taking her name.  A scholarship will also be made in her honor.  These are only two, in a long list of legacies left by Pam Olsson, a woman whose smile, in the words of Richard Baniszewski, “lit up a lot of dance rooms.”
