The rewards of helping just keep on giving. Alix Parker is the winner of the 2009-10 “Spirit of Giving” scholarship!
Alix graduated from Desert Vista High School in May. She started serving on her high school blood drive committee during her sophomore year as a member of the Key Club there. She plans to attend ASU in the fall to obtain a degree in business which she hopes will eventually lead her to a career in business and marketing for a charitable organization. Here’s a short excerpt from her application essay:
“The most important reason to encourage others to give blood is simply to save lives . . . Every time someone asks me ‘why I should give blood’, I emphatically respond, ‘to save 3 lives.’ Knowing that you are changing three lives is powerful and it is something everyone should experience.”
“Congratulations again to Alix!” said Denise N. Gotcher, Marketing & Communications Director for United Blood Services.
