Several TUHSD schools have opened their doors and removed closed campus policies.
Desert Vista previously had strict residential boundaries from which they pulled students. Now due to lowered class sizes at TUHSD schools, campuses are no longer filled to capacity leaving forty spots open for students at Desert Vistas and 75 vacancies at Corona Del Sol.
The possible applicants were split into two groups: Tier 1 and Tier 2 students. Tier 1 applicants lived within TUHSD boundaries or came from feeder schools. Tier 2 applicants came from anywhere around the state and do not attend a feeder middle school.

Sixty-nine students applied and forty as of Wednesday afternoon were chosen and notified of their acceptance. This opportunity represents the mass appeal that Desert Vista holds for parents.

When asked about the popularity of the high school and why she thinks it is such a desirable environment Dr. Battle responded, “Parents really appreciate the environment we have here, the exceptional teachers we have. They read about all the athletics here. They understand from universities the type of students that are coming out of Desert Vista, and the preparation they receive from the school.”

Parents do actively seek enrollment for their child at DV, even specifically moving into district boundaries so their child may attend.

“There’s this small town feel that I think accidently occurred out here;  even though we’re large we do have a community of people that take care of each other. I think that’s what makes us so attractive,” Battle said.
