A Haunted Homecoming

It is hard to believe that it is already time for homecoming. The students are preparing for it by getting their dresses, rides, and even the place to eat; but the student council has much more on their platter.
The student council is in charge of the homecoming this year. This means the parade is also a top priority on their list. In the previous years, the parade has been after school. This year it was a little different. Just like how the assemblies are during second hour, the parade was too. Each class was assigned an area on the street and they watched the parade there! This was much more efficient because all of the students saw it and it was not an option. So the next question is, who was in the parade?
A parade is not complete without floats. Many of the clubs and groups at school are created floats and banners to walk with or ride on through the streets. They have the option to either make their way through the streets or in a float! Along with the clubs, the student council has managed to get Toyota Tundra’s that were used to drive the homecoming royalty and grand Marshall Maggie Fountain.
There will be a carnival starting at 5:30 p.m. The admission is 2 cans of food. They will all go to the canned food drive on the campus. There will be performances by many of the groups here and activities will be held in the middle of the courtyard.
Then at 7:00 p.m. the football game starts. It will be the Brophy Broncos against Desert Vista Thunder. At halftime, the senior royalty will be chosen while the whole court rolls around the field in the cars they have picked out.
Last but not least, on Saturday October 31, 2009, the Homecoming dance will be held in the gym. The theme is Haunted Mansion, yet it is still semi-formal.
Come out and support the boys at the game and watch the Broncos run scared when the Thunder strikes. Then get your groove on at the dance, it will be a thriller!
