Have you ever gotten busted for breaking a hallway rule? If you have, you may be in the same boat as many students. Walking around with your cell phone, running, and screaming, are things that you don’t want to be caught doing.
Students may feel as if it’s pointless to have rules set for the hallways because all you do is walk up and down them. But, the rules can become helpful if a situation happens and chaos lands along the way.
“I think that having hallway rules is needed and is beneficial for our school. I feel it’s an unspoken rule,” said Ms. Bethea-Activities Director. “High school students at Desert Vista are not second graders anymore.”
Hallway rules are for our safety. They are here to keep our students safe and out of trouble. But, many students feel that it’s ridiculous for some of the things that teachers make them do when they walk down the hallway. But, some of us think differently.
“I absolutely think that it’s a great idea that we have hallway rules!”, said Mr. Leland Rogers, teacher. “But, I do think that we need to make stricter rules such as no talking while walking in the hallway. In my class, I have my students wear sunglasses so that they don’t make any eye contact with the teachers or other students while walking down the hall.”
Teachers and students may have different opinions on the hallway rules, but there is something that they will always agree on…they will always be there to catch us in the hall…no matter what.
