It doesn’t matter whether your picture is cute, ugly,or just plain scary; we always need to carry out student I.D’s with us no matter where we go.
“I’ve lost my I.D 3 times,” admitted senior Taylor Davis.
Even though DV doesn’t require students to wear or attach ids to their clothes on a daily basis, but here are some things to consider.
*Security reasons … its a school and students need to feel secure and IDs makes it easy for the school staff to identify the students
*Identification .. with so many students in a class and so many classes, it would be nice if the teachers/professors be able to address their students by name and not just by .. “you, young man,” or “you, miss?”
*Part of the outlook .. it completes the appearance of the students and even the teachers, to have your IDs displayed properly. its more professional looking that way.
*Discipline … it may seem uncomfortable at first to have that ID tag hanging in front of you but after a while you get used to it. And if its part of the requirements, then you’re enforcing discipline upon yourself and leading by example, as well.
*Relevant to the the first reason, security is everybody’s business, not just the security officers or school staff member but everybody. Security is great if it is enforced early and deterring the commission of an offense or violation and if every students knows who everybody is and then you see an “unfamiliar” face, appropriate action can be taken to avert an untoward incidents.
Plus, you use your ID card for everything from checking out a book, buying lunch in the cafeteria, or accessing a computer. So it’s a good idea to always remember to keep it in your bag or backpack.
“We’ve had people leave their I.D’s in their pants, and their mother washes it, and it gets ruined,” said information support specialist Kristi Elliott.
So what do you do if you’ve already lost track of it in the first few weeks of the school year? Head to the bookstore before school, during lunch or after school, pay $4 for it, then to the library to say cheese. With so many students who are careless with their cards, be the one who knows just who they are and how to prove it.
