ELENA: Today on this Monday… March 26th it may be the first day of the week but you can’t deny that the weather is perfect as the sun shines down on the courtyard.

 

ELENA: I’m ELENA Newell thanks for joining us…this is DVTV.

 

ELENA: And now lets head over to Jordan Young with a more detailed look at the weather this week…

ELENA: Thank you Jordan.

 

ELENA: The varsity baseball team defeated McClintock 3-0 behind the shutout pitching of Hunter Rodirguez with help the last two innings from Tyler Viza.  Viza also had a key hit in the game to give the team needed runs.  AJ Valencia also had a good offensive day.

 

ELENA: There are a lot of sports going on this week. Today there are Freshman and JV baseball games here versus mountain pointe starting at 3:45 PM and a varsity game at mountain pointe at the same time.

 

ELENA: Tomorrow there is a girls tennis game at home versus salpointe starting at 3:30. The boys tennis team will be traveling to Salpointe to play at 3:30 aswell.

 

ELENA: Varsity softball will be playing Corona at home at 3:45 with Freshman and JV playing at Corona at the same time.

 

ELENA: JV and Varsity boys volleyball play tomorrow also. The game starts at 4 and is at home against chandler.

 

ELENA: You may remember our interview with Joe Lagas last week and his story about alport syndrome. As a fundraiser…Joes family created the Alport Syndrome walk…Julia Bulin was there and has the story.

ELENA: Thank you Julia. The 30,000 dollars that was raised will be going to a fantastic cause.

 

ELENA: The Desert Vista Thunder Band is asking everyone to join them at the awesome FLORENCIA’S Pizza Bistro this Wednesday.  Florencia’s is donating 20% of all participating proceeds from that evening to our band program.  Just mention you are there for the DV Band!!

 

ELENA: If you want to stay in shape…try cheer. If you are interested in being part of one of the DV cheer squads…you must attend the mandatory meeting tomorrow at 6:30 pm in room C143. Tryouts start April 9th and go through the 13th.

 

ELENA: A reminder for all Asian Student Union members…there will be meeting in room C272..right after school today.

 

ELENA: After the first week of our annual Boxtop drive we have Mrs. Mckenna’s third hour in first place with 323 boxtops, in second place is Mr. Silva and Mrs. Montoya’s third hour with 292 boxtops each. Keep bringing in your boxtops until April 4th.

 

ELENA: One last announcement for all Juniors and Seniors. Northern Arizona University’s final visit to campus is Wednesday. Juniors and seniors interested in learning about admissions, housing, scholarships, and majors must sign up before the start of 6th period today in order to attend.  Stop by the Counseling Office during lunch so that you don’t miss out.

 

ELENA: Dr. Baca thanks everyone  who participated in the First Annual Tempe Union March Madness Basketball Tournament!

Congratulations to Tempe High School for winning the tournament. They came from behind and held off a great Desert Vista team. Everyone demonstrated good sportsmanship and each person’s spirit of fun made this event a true success.
