|BROOKE: Today on this Friday January 13th…the hard work of many was showcased this morning during the first assembly of the 2012 year…including amazing performances by DV dance and cheer.
BROOKE: I’m Brooke Serack thanks for joining us…this is DVTV.
BROOKE: The Boys soccer teams were on fire last week in two games coming back from Winter break! They dominated… back to back… against the Mesa Jack Rabbits and the Dobson Mustangs. In last night’s games the boys crushed Corona with a second half goal by Karsten Colin. They are now 9 and 2 for the season.
BROOKE: The DV girl’s soccer team has also been on fire with another win over Corona last night! The varsity beat Corona 2-1, in a physical battle and JV was victorious with a 4-0 win! Way to go girls. Come cheer on the Thunder next Wednesday against Casa Grande and Thursday vs Dobson…both games are at home!
BROOKE: It’s that time again to show Mountain Pointe who runs tukee. The boy’s basketball team will be playing Mountain Pointe at Mountain Pointe tonight. The 15 to 3 record girls will also be taking on the pride tonight…at home. It’s a white out, so come out and show your spirit as the basketball teams crush the pride.
BROOKE: As you pass from class to class…through the halls of Desert Vista…you may notice some new equipment hanging on the walls. Gabby Newell got the scoop on the new defibrillators on campus and how they some day might help save a life. Take a look.

BROOKE: Come join SPICE for an afternoon of Bollywood fun this afternoon. They will be watching Dostana in Mrs. Corcoran’s room… C270… from 3:30- 5:00. Delicious Indian food will be served, so come immerse yourself in Indian Culture.
BROOKE: Ahwatukee Relay 4 Life… the organization that raised roughly 147,000 dollars last year to fight cancer…is having its annual kick-off on next Wednesday at 7pm in the Mountain Pointe Cafeteria. In order to celebrate the start-up of Relay… Desert Vista will be having a mini spirit week.
BROOKE: Next Tuesday will be Harry Potter Day … it is time to grab your wands and “Spread the Magic of Relay.” Wednesday…in coordination with this year’s Relay theme…. it is “Once Upon a Relay Day” dress as your favorite movie or book character! And Thursday will be a purple out!
BROOKE: DV is home to great students and amazing teachers…including honors biology and biotechnology teacher Mrs. Musheno… made an appearance on PBS Channel 8 this week…where she spoke about being named the Innovative teacher of the year. Take a look at some of the highlights.
BROOKE: Mrs. Musheno has been recognized for her unique and engaging teaching style…including catchy songs to help students remember the fundamentals of biology…
BROOKE: Her dedications to science and to teaching have made Desert Vista and the Ahwatukee community a better place. Fantastic job and congratulations Mrs. Musheno!

In order to celebrate graduation, the Grad Night committee is back on campus during lunch the week of January 30th to collect payment and all paperwork. If you sign up between now and February 28th, you will get 5 bonus raffle tickets just for signing up!
A bus will leave the DV parking lot right after graduation and transport you to the F1 Raceway.
