DVTV 01/11/12

BROOKE: Today on this Wednesday January 11th… it was 47 degrees outside this morning…mostly cloudy with winds at 7 mile per hour. Several students were moseying to their first period class or huddling on the floor to stay warm…waiting to start another day here at DV 

BROOKE: I’m Brooke Serack thanks for joining us…this is DVTV.

BROOKE: Relay for Life Kick-Off is coming up! In order to celebrate kick-off we will be having a mini-spirit week. Next Tuesday, it is time to grab your wands and “Spread the Magic of Relay.” It’s Harry Potter Day! Wednesday, in coordination with this year’s Relay theme, it is “Once Upon a Relay Day” dress as your favorite movie or book character! And Thursday is a purple out!

 

BROOKE: After a great first semester here at DV, we will be having another dance! Come support Student Council by coming to Hoopcoming next Friday, January 20th. Grab your basketball jerseys and come out and support the Boy’s Basketball team as they take on Chandler! The Varsity game begins at 7pm, Immediately after the game we will be having the Hoopcoming Dance! More details to come, but save the date!

 

BROOKE: Come check out the DV Boys Basketball team this Friday as they take on the Mountain Pointe Pride. The game will be a white out, so make sure to go and show them who runs Tukee!

 

BROOKE: The Join SPICE Club for an afternoon of Bollywood fun this Friday the 13th. Check out this short promo about this interesting club…

BROOKE: We will be watching Dostana in Mrs. Corcoran’s room C270 from 3:30- 5:00.  Yummy Indian food will be served – hope to see you there.

 

BROOKE: Hey if you see Ms. Musheno, give her a big high five. She’s going to be taping a live episode of the Horizon show on Channel 8 tonight as the STEM Teacher of the Year.

BROOKE: Congratulations to the Thunder Speech Theater and Debate Company who competed at the Red Mountain invitational this weekend.

The team placed first, beating out conference rivals such as Hamilton, Brophy, and Dobson. They will soon be competing at the Harvard Invitational tournament in February.

 

BROOKE: There will be a Pointe Club meeting in H101 today after school at 2:30. All are welcome!

 

BROOKE: Science Olympiad will be meeting tomorrow afterschool in C183. All students who love science and are looking to build their resumes are welcome to join them. The competion includes individual events in chemistry, physics, anatomy and physiology, engineering, math, astronomy, environmental science, and earth and space science.

 

BROOKE: Congratulations DV Women’s Soccer! In the match against Dobson this past Friday, Varsity won 4-1 and JV won 9-0! Way to go. This week come watch on Thursday…. January 12th… as the Thunder take on Corona at Corona! Come support DV Women’s Soccer at the ARBY CART all week…during both lunches.

 

BROOKE: The awards continue to rack up for our football. Take a look at just how MaxPreps plans to honor this group of young men.

BROOKE: Head baseball coach, Stan Luketich also recently picked up a prestigious award. This past weekend I Anaheim, the American Baseball Coaches Associated honored him with the Ethics award for his leadership both on, and off the field. Thanks to Mr. Snyder for shooting that video.

BROOKE: Congratulations to the DV Boys Wrestling team who took 1st place at the Peoria Wrestling Invitational this past Friday and Saturday. Come show your support for the DV Boys Wrestling team tonight as DV hosts Mesa at home! Freshmen begins at 5, JV at 6, and Varsity at 7!

 

BROOKE: Don’t forget, the deadline for placing a Senior Ad in the 2012 Storm Yearbook has also been extended to this Friday. Please download senior ad information and submit your photos, text and payment to the bookstore asap. Contact Mrs. Coro at mcoro@tuhsd.k12.az.us for further questions and details.

 

BROOKE: The Grad night committee will be on campus next week during lunch the to collect payment and paperwork you will need to attend Grad Night. Get 5 bonus raffle tickets for signing up between now and Feb. 28.
