Every year the DV Choir has a final concert, POPS. This is the biggest and best choir concert of the year. In this concert, Bella Voce, Men’s Chorus, Cantilena,  A Cappella, and Jazz Mad got together and sang a wide variety of popular, fun songs.

There were two performances this year on May seventh and eighth. Bella Voce sang an 80’s medley with songs such as “We Got The Beat” and “True Colors.” Cantilena showed their girl power by singing “Man I Feel Like A Woman,” “Something Else,” and “Respect.” The girl crazy guys from Men’s Chorus sang “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” and “Reach Out.” A Cappella sang some good old rock-and-roll including “Thriller,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Finally, Jazz Mad rocked DV with “Lean On Me,” “Somebody To Love,” and “Don’t Stop.”

“I think POPS is the biggest reward because it is the most work for me,” DeValk said, “I look forward to this show because all the technical aspects and solos really make it special. It’s great fun.”

For this show, fourteen lucky students were chosen to sing a solo. These fourteen students are chosen out of about 100 students who auditioned. The students shown in the pictures are those fourteen lucky soloists. The songs they sang are of their own choice and vary from “According To You” to “Tim McGraw.”

These girls and boys worked for months on these songs and solos and the concert was a huge success! “POPS was great,” said Leslie Rich, Belle Voce, “It has been a great way for students to show and express their talent.”
