Many students travel abroad, whether it be for vacation or educational purposes, safety tips are a must no matter what the reasoning. When you are a tourist, you are targeted because you do not know the destination or the norms around the area. First, research to know the city so you are not found wandering around in an unknown place.
Next, before you leave, discuss your plans and your emergency information with a close friend just in case it was needed. Also, never list your home address on your luggage tag. That is open access to personal information that should not be known to any strangers.
Another tip: never flash your money in public. Allowing locals and other tourists to see how much money you have could be a potential threat for being pick pocketed. These thieves are very wise. Some even use their own children to distract you; so, do not turn your back on anyone. Keep your purse or bag close to your body.
Traveling is fun you just have to know the tips in order to stay safe and enjoy your traveling experience to the fullest.
