Ever walk past a woman with gorgeous curls that bounce around while she walks in the hallway? If you have, you might have noticed that that woman is Mrs. Musheno. But what hides behind that head full of curls? Well, it’s full of secrets, secrets with information on how she is a well-known teacher here at DV for many of her awards and recognitions that she has received throughout her years of teaching.

Mrs. Musheno was a college graduate from Arizona State University. In her college years, her first major was Range Management, where you got the chance to go to Africa and experience the culture there. But, her interest took a turn to the Science Department. She has gotten recognized for a lot of the things that she has done for the school and for the achievements that she has won.

“I get recognized for some of the awards that I have received from the school and district. I also got a trophy from the previous principal here at DV, Joe McDonald. If you do a good job at something, you get recognized. When you work hard at something, which I have done, it’s nice to be recognized,” said Mrs. Musheno.

Aside from being a great recognition to many people and her students, she has secrets that explain why she is such a great teacher.

“I love my subject area and I enjoy working a lot. I love all of my students and I am a hard worker and work hard at what I do.”

As many of us know, we have a Biotech program here at DV, and Mrs. Musheno created it. She began teaching it twelve years ago, and then began incorporating it into classes. At DV, this is our second year of having Biotech as a class. “The class entails working with genes and DNA, where you get to manipulate genes and proteins to make life better,” said Musheno.

We have a fabulous Science Department here at Desert Vista, and we have Mrs. Musheno to thank for part of that, and for her awards and dedication to this school.
