Girls, are you thinking about joining the soccer team? Well here are some intimidating facts. Freshman welcome to high school where everything is that much HARDER! Rumor has it that there are a bunch of girls trying out for the team, more than last year! Competition is a good thing, right?

Not only are there a bunch of girls trying out, but there’s no freshman team. Its either JV or Varsity if you are to make a team. Competition will be brutal during tryouts. Everyone is fighting to be the best. Only 4 spots are left on Varesity if all members from last year’s team return. If only 20 girls can make the JV team, how many girls will have to get cut?

”People move here, just to go to Desert Vista for this specific soccer team, “ said coach Proudfoot, who heads the girls basketball team. “For soccer, it’s harder because you have to make one out of two teams. For basketball you only have to make one out of three. Soccer has no freshman team.”

As stress builds students are juggling practice on their own and complete school work. Some students are even playing for a club sport. Girls who play for club soccer teams are practicing hard everyday for long hours, becoming the best they can be.These soccer players are skilled and the Varsity coach has already seen most of them play. So what’s so big about this? Well, they take everything so seriously that even these amazingly good club players are getting cut! They can be good, but that does not mean there good enough. Scary? Of course. But that is what this is all about. Facing fears, becoming brave, and gaining confidence in your abilities.
