Extracurricular Activities all around Arizona are coming to their peak. Club baseball, soccer, football, and swimming are all out there. Is there one there for each student?

Some students are already participating in Arizona All – Stars competitive cheer. Already starting their routine for the upcoming cheer season, this roaring gym has 40 members tumbling and over 80 on their competitive teams! Day care to senior year in high school, everyone is welcome.

AZ All – Stars has three competitive teams right now. Senior Purple Tide, Senior Black Magic, and Junior Blue Crush As for all teams, a particular amount of people need to have back handsprings (flipping backwards and landing on your hands to bring you around to your feet) or back tucks (standing back flip). If the goal is not reached, the team has little luck winning competitions or needs to go to competition a level below.

Tide is their highest leveled team. At level five, it is a step up from the rest. Hard work and more sweat, this team has the skills to make it big this year. “I can’t wait for out of state competitions” said freshmen Bridget. “I love everything about Arizona All – Stars.”

Black Magic comes next in line at level four. Back handspring Tucks are necessary. Although being on a team is fun, it is a lot of work. “I can’t wait for the new routine and stunts” says senior Melanie. “I’ve been at Arizona All – Stars for four years and love it” exclaimed freshmen Taylor.

Blue Crush is AZ All – Stars level three team. Working on stunts and jumps, these little ones are ready to take the floor. “I like being able to help the younger kids reach their goals and see their faces when they are met” said senior Melissa.

Some students that don’t attend DV also go to Arizona All – Stars to cheer with friends and have a good time. “I’m excited for becoming close with my team” said 8th grader Savannah attending Centennial.  “I’ve been here for two months and everyone is really nice” said freshmen at Hamilton Nikea. 8th grader Anna from Pueblo says “I think it’s a good gym. I’ve been here for two years and I already have a back handspring lay out (where you do a back flip with your legs straight)”

Furthermore, there have been cheer leaders and tumblers at AZ All – Stars for over 5 years. “I love meeting new people” says senior Kelsey. Savannah says “They have amazing coaches”. “I can’t wait to get back out on the floor” says Melissa. “I love the family atmosphere” says Jennifer Lannon, Arizona All – Stars founder.

The coaches are well experienced as well, over 30 years of well known and trained professionals at this gym, waiting to help you improve.  “I love watching people grow thru the years” says Jennifer. “I like the energy and determination of the youth” explains Coach Drea. 5 year-old Lexi says “I like all the cheer leaders.” “I’m looking forward to the routines hitting for the first time and seeing all of the teams get better each year. But I also fear that someone will get hurt during a competition” enlightens Jennifer.

From level three to five, watch out because this years 2009 – 2010 teams are coming this way. From round-off to back handspring full (twisting), this year’s AZ All – Stars are ready for competition season, are you?
