Playing the Strings

Orchestra is not just about being able to play the violin; they do many fun activities such as setting up floats for our homecoming parade, or planning out of state trips. “We go out of state a lot which is pretty cool. Like last year the orchestra went to SeaWorld” said freshman Henry Kim.

With early morning practices on certain days, and afterschool practice on most, the hard working orchestra members have a lot to do. “We are supposed to practice at lease 3 hours a week,” said sophomore Nick Carney.

But all this hard work pays off. Orchestra plays in many concerts each year. Hundreds of hours of work are put into these concerts and it really shows. The DV orchestra sounds amazing. They play various songs from classical to classics.

So next time you hear about a DV orchestra concert, go check it out. Tickets are only five dollars, which makes it an opportunity you don’t want to miss. Help support DV orchestra.
